Chapter one changes the course of figuring skating for Angie as she decides to join the Peace Corps. Assigned to Tunis she and her partner Sarah bond and after orientation and the preliminary meetings they set up their room after cleaning and scrubbing the filth. Then Omar who’s in charge and they explain what they think would benefit those that are there, learning Arabic and then finding a space for the Community Association Outreach Center to incorporate:

Then a week later three huge boxes arrive with American books translated yon Arabic. Imagine reading Hemingway, Buck and other famous authors in Arabic!

Then creating s flyer explaining their offerings and Omar’s son created the flyer and it was so perfect it looked professionally done. 

Then Stevie Parker arrives again and he seems interested in Angie but something about him makes both her and Sarah shudder. No place to ice skate but if they had roller skates they could skate in the parking lot at end of the day. Will he find two pairs of skates, and will they let the embassy nurse come out to Ettadhamen to talk about health and hygiene?

Then the nurse was fantastic but only three girls came naming Angie upset because James came as a support and more. Things seemed to go in a better direction when she and Sarah were called into the office and then believe it it not roller skating became a plus then Angie and Sarah witness something horrific as a child would not live due to proper lack of care. Then their rolling skating lessons might now have chess added too with a flyer created will they announce it and use the chess contest to teach kids in Ettadhamen. 

Getting back to Doctors Without Borders she tells how she witnessed a child’s death from measles. Can this organization give these kids these shots, so it doesn’t happen again? The answer is strikingly clear. 

Then calling her dad and explaining her project for 15 thousand dollars they could give the MMR and polio vaccines to over 1000 children and save lives will her dad give her the money? 

Then funds are their vaccines given and more to fine as they are setting up more places to give it and. All her ideas are now coming into play too. With help from Stevie and hopefully Omar she and Sarah created a space for this and more. 

Stevie was determined to get her to date him and telling him she did not result in a knife attack cutting her leg and requiring quotes if medical attention and pain killers. Then an attorney sees her and what is said is horrific and Stevie is going to walk away because he said she hit him in the eye and then the knife cut her leg. Claiming she’d lose more and when you read how and why she decide to talk either her father sees a sports medicine specialist or go from there. It’s seriously wrong and her expenses will be paid for the most part but first she needs to talk this other doctor. Then sessions that helped her and now back on her feet using what they’ve given her wooden crutches plus a harsh reality about Stevie and what they plan to do to further her image, but will she accept the position and presents and a special party for her. It gets tense and she is given a contract to sign added 100000 to the 50000 and then dealing with Whitcomb and others from high above plus telling her that in the ambassador’s residence with 3 other Peace Corp volunteers and plus language distinctions and James her getting so many vaccinated. 

Plus, his apology wrong statement and what’s next?

Then going to meet with the diplomats and hearing how much she and Omar, Sarah and Muhammad created the venues further the vaccines to be delivered then going out with James and then a second time where will it go?

Then realizing they both has passions hers caused by a traumatic skating injury plus seeing child die from measles and him a book he read and Bobby Kennedy and a presidential campaign. Then a revelation about meeting him before he was killed. 

Then Angie is invited to lunch with Mrs. Bentley from the American Embassy and a Mrs. Smith. A conversation that is racist, insulting and warning her against her relationship with James because it would hurt his career. After all she is not white she’s black and not even African or anything respectable. At the end she clinches and wonders if she is meant to be with him and his reaction is not exactly what she expected. Somehow insults come out will this ever work?

Then Angie comes back to New York hedge James is learning Farsi, and her father wants his best friend to do an investigation about him to learn more about her choice. Plus, will her leg heal from the stab wound to get back into figure skating?

The day comes and her father is there all three on skates and will things go, okay?

Then talking about where and when the wedding will take place a huge controversy arises Church vs City Hall leave it to Charlie. Then his Farsi lessons her classes hard to connect where will this go and will he be sent to Iran? Then each weekend was hard and then James being sent to Tehran and she can’t follow there. Then finish her degree let him see how it is and the Enlightenment in one of her classes. Then will or did Carter let the shah into the United States?

Applying for job at Skating Club. Charlie comes through again.

Questions and horror and brutality from the guards.

Then the tortures, worse treatment ER muscadine between Angie and trying to deal with life as the years passed by and her hopes faded. Iranians let Perot visit two employees and n the prison. I’ll a man named Mr. Jones help her why?

April 1980 and enroute to Dallas and then Wiesbaden Air Force -Hospital Germany. Dr Anderson is checking out James plus his blood pressure before leaving. The ETA of the hostages 3 p.m. and En Route to United States how will it go? Home greetings, different events with plus getting close and yet at tine farther away. Her baby brother sick missing Valentine party and James went to D.C. intern in paperwork. Plus, he’s hard on her and he’s hoping to get Mideast Desk job at state. Too much free time a problem and Sunday in Manhattan strolling and a temporary job at the United Nations. Thinks it’s to prevent him from the one in the Mideast. PTSD. Jenna and Angie talk and what about counselling?

Exploding at the concert demanding that the Tchaikovsky 1812 Overture never be played. 

An ending that’s sad and leaves Angie in many directions but in the end watch what happens and knows the power of ice skate. Endings don’t have to be final what will the future hold only author J.J.Harrigan knows and let’s hope there’s another sequel. Researched about the time and details that proved and showed the horrors of the war and the hostages. Faith is that the winner?
