Peer Mediation

Story for today

It’s sad that young people have become so unfeeling and at times violent. Rather than talk it out or get a mediator as we see on the news shots fired, knives used and worse never considered the consequences. Truly frightening since these killings and assaults are on the news more than once it twice a day on all channels. As an educator I had created a peer mediation program and group and it worked extremely well while the last principal before the final one retired. Rather than get suspended those involved welcomed the program and no phone call home unless they broke their written agreement. None did but I kept a close eye and if I thought someone was slipping I called them into my office before things got out of hand.
